Family & Youth, Incorporated (FYI), is pleased to announce that we have completed negotiations to join Easter Seals/UCP, effective May 20th, 2004. We believe that the combination of resources and expertise will greatly enhance our delivery of community-based services to persons with mental health issues and/or developmental disabilities. Easter Seals/UCP shares our commitment to serving and supporting persons in their own homes and communities utilizing the most effective and least restrictive approaches available. We are looking forward to this exciting and dynamic period of growth for our agency.

The mission of this company is the provision and strengthening of community-based support services to persons with mental health and/or developmental disabilities.

FYI was founded upon the belief that children and adults with mental illness deserve to live in their own homes and communities whenever possible, and that out-of-home placements can and should be avoided if community-based supports are appropriate and available.

We further believe that support services should be family-centered, driven by the wishes and goals of the client and/or their family, and that the client's own home or community provides the best environment to learn and achieve long-term independence and self-sufficiency.
